GravityFree Attends International Developers Conference in San Francisco

Sarasota, FL – GravityFree, Sarasota’s premiere Web Agency, attended one of the largest Web conferences in the world last month - the Web 2.0 Expo held in San Francisco, California - to garner information about the latest and greatest in the Web world.

“Web 2.0” is a marketing term that refers to the latest evolution of the Web, everything from programming and design to business strategies and marketing, with a focus on user involvement. GravityFree sent four of their own experts to the conference, including a Web Producer, Senior Architect, Internet Marketing Manager and the company’s Owner, Scott Heaps, to learn how other leading companies have successfully implemented these “user-driven” tactics.

“We wanted to hear directly from the most innovative companies on the Web,” comments Scott Heaps. And that they did. The conference featured a high caliber of speakers and industry gurus such as Eric Schmidt, Google’s Chairman of the Board, Jeffrey P. Bezos, Founder and CEO of Amazon.com, and Jeff Weiner, Executive Vice President, Network Division, of Yahoo! Inc. to name a few. Other companies represented there were Digg, Technorati, and Adobe, and the list goes on. “We want to take the best of the best and apply it to what we do. A conference like this is a good way to keep the axe sharp and implement new ideas and technology for the benefit of our clients,” Heaps continued. “They look to us to be forward thinking with solutions.”

The Web 2.0 Expo held on April 15-18, 2007 at Moscone West in San Francisco, was designed to meet the increasing demand for Web comprehension and skills, and to build a broader Web community. Web 2.0 Expo is a companion event to the Web 2.0 Summit, and is the first conference and tradeshow for the rapidly growing ranks of designers and developers, product managers, entrepreneurs, VCs, marketers, and business strategists who are embracing the opportunities created by Web 2.0 technologies.

This conference was timely for GravityFree after just having acquired Internet Marketing Firm, Barron Productions (announced last month). John Barron, who heads up GravityFree’s new Internet Marketing Division was in attendance at the conference and was especially interested in the topic of user-generated content; via blogging and social networking venues online. He said, “It’s always good to hear how the big fish are harnessing the power of online content sharing; you can use a lot of the same tactics at varying levels for optimum results no matter how big or small.”

Conference tracks included Web 2.0 Fundamentals, Web 2.0 Services & Platforms, Marketing & Community, Design & User Experience, Strategy & Business Models, and Products & Services. “We brought four people from four different disciplines to cover each of the major tracks that apply to our business,” says Heaps. “We took away many things we can integrate into our process and apply to what we do…and it’s not so much about the trends - because we’re aware of those for the most part – but how users make use of those trends that is enlightening.”
