Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. Launches New Website

Sarasota, FL– Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. launched a new website earlier this month made possible by a grant from the Eluned and Edward Russell Charitable Foundation. The site, www.gsgcf.org, was redesigned by Sarasota Web Agency, GravityFree to update the Girl Scout brand as well as promote the Girl Scout’s mission by providing well-organized content and easy-to-use navigation. The theme, prominently displayed on the home page is: Discover, Connect, Take Action, which became the very premise of the site’s design and infrastructure.

Girl Scouts already has a strong brand and the new website leverages that by enhancing the visuals on the site to look more like a Girl Scout site. The brand is also enhanced by reinforcing the message/content behind it, the message of helping girls discover who they are, connect with others locally and globally, and take action to make the world a better place.

Throughout the site are valuable resources for girls, parents, and volunteers, from how to join and upcoming programs to how to volunteer and adult learning courses/training courses. Girl Scout volunteers and parents can download program and training books and check for closed or cancelled programs and council updates. A product sales section answers questions about the successful fundraising initiatives and has a “Meet the Cookies” page for previewing the famous Girl Scout cookies. Visitors can also check out the council properties and camps and read testimonials from the girls and their troop leaders.

The website was designed to be fluid and change as often as is necessary to promote the programs and sustain the organization’s mission to “build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.”

“Our new website not only allows us to provide a primary communication tool for our girls, parents, and volunteers to easily access current information quickly, but it also accurately represents Girl Scouts as a contemporary organization for today’s young women,” said Sandi Stewart, CEO of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. “We are grateful to the Eluned and Edward Russell Charitable Foundation for their generous grant and to GravityFree for their professional expertise.”

The site conveys the results-driven philosophy behind the GravityFree design and architecture and provides an easy-to-use content management system for Girl Scout staff to make regular updates.
